Who We Are
White Rabbit Theatre Company was founded in the summer of 2018, and produced its first play only a few months later in October of the same year. We started this to provide theatrical opportunities for local performers, technicians and audience members alike. At the time of establishment, very little English-speaking theatre was available in Zurich, and nothing that went beyond amateur clubs. Feeling creatively stifled, we decided to try and build a small, professional theatre company with profit-sharing and an open-book policy at its core. All production members have access to the financial books throughout the process, so everyone knows where and how money is being spent, and all profits are shared out at the end of a production equally. White Rabbit is now in its fifth successful year and we have started providing opportunities for local actors to tour outside of Switzerland as well.
Courtney Beamish grew up performing in dance and theatre from a young age. She attended both the Gwen Cadman Dance School and the Canadian School of Dance before training at Brock University School of Performing Arts (now the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts).
Courtney has spent the last 14 years working all around the world and the last ten years she has been a drama teacher, director and choreographer for a few international and bilingual schools in Zurich. She has also been an actor, sound operator, stage manager and assistant director and secretary on the board for the Zurich English-Speaking Theatre (formerly Zurich Comedy Club) before stepping out on her own.
Courtney Beamish is the founder, Artistic, and Managing Director of White Rabbit Theatre Company.
