It's Here!

It started with an idea. Not a particularly serious idea, more of a daydream. But somehow, it snowballed into an actual thing.

About four months ago I got the idea into my head that I could start a theatre company here in Zurich. Starting a theatre company in general had been in the back of my mind for countless years but never with any real prospects. But suddenly I found myself in the right place at the right time and it seemed that if I didn't jump at the chance it might not come again.

That was in May. Now it's barely September and I find myself writing the first blog post for White Rabbit Theatre Company. My goal with this blog is to document the step-by-step process of bringing our first production to the stage.

First, a little bit about me. My name is Courtney and I've been living in Zurich for just over 3 years (originally from Canada). I used to teach dance and drama but now teach grade 2. I am currently a member of the Zurich Comedy Club, a volunteer theatre group. In fact, I am assistant directing a play that opens tomorrow and will be performing in their large fall production in November.

If you've clicked through the website a little you've probably seen that my goal for this company is to provide a profit-sharing experience whereby all participants are rewarded equally, as well as an open-book policy for all (participants, audience and donors).

I will strive to update the blog at least once a month, if not more (and certainly more often as we get closer to production) with photos and videos of how things are going.

The Company has been in the works for about two months now (more on the early process in a later post) and things are moving forward quickly. I am in talks with our first would-be director and we already have our first actor on board (she's touring in a play across England and Ireland for the next few months but will be back with plenty of time).

Thank you for taking the time to read our first post. Have a poke around the website (which is still under construction) if you haven't already. Follow the blog. Say hi. And definitely check out the White Rabbit GoFundMe campaign. Every little bit helps!

Don't forget to follow the White Rabbit by subscribing to this blog.

Until next time,

Courtney
